North secured two straight-forward map wins over Vega Squadron (16-5 on Mirage, 16-2 on Inferno), to move on to the upper bracket semi-final against SK.
North, in their LAN debut with Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye and Daniel "mertz" Mertz, started off beautifully on the CT side of Vega Squadron's map pick, Mirage. The Danes got an 8-0 lead before Nikolay "mir" Bityukov's 3K on A earned the CIS team their first round of the game.
In the following round Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså stepped up to the task on B and secured three kills, forcing Vega Squadron to eco (9-1). With the economic advantage, Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen and co. cruised through the rest of the half, finishing it with a 14-1 lead.
Sergey "keshandr" Nikishin opened up and closed out the second pistol round, securing a total of three kills and earning his side a foothold in the game. However, after Vega Squadron made the score 14-5, mertz clutched a 1v1 on B in an eco round and North used that momentum to close out the map shortly, making the score 16-5.
Inferno started with a hectic pistol round, as Vega Squadron went extremely aggressive despite being on the CT side. In the end, the round came down to a 1v1 situation on B, that valde resolved in his team's favor.
In the first pistol round, North went for a B split, isolating Dmitriy "jR" Chervak on the site. The AWPer managed one kill, but it wasn't enough to allow a successful retake in the end. Vega Squadron's first round came as they shut down the Danes approach towards A, but similarly to Mirage, they were instantly reset and put in a tough situation on the defensive side of the map.
As the score was 10-1 for North, keshandr went for a seemingly desperate mid push, which was easily punished by Kjaerbye. After getting the entry, the round wasn't a straight-forward one for North, and their new player had to to win it single-handedly by clutching out a near-impossible situation, resolving a 1v2 with just 12 HP.
North switched to the CT side with a 13-2 lead, and got into a great situation in the pistol fairly quickly. jR did his best by turning a 1v4 in a 1v1, but valde showed up in the clutch again and shut him down. North easily brought the game to an end, finishing it 16-2.
